Assistant Football Coach

We are looking for a dynamic individual to assist our teaching and coaching staff in the delivery of the education and football provision for our AFC Telford United and Coaching Connexions students. Are you game for it?

Job Role: U19s Assistant Football Coach and Learning Advisor
Location: AFC Telford United, New Bucks Head Stadium, Telford. TF1 2TU
Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term until July 2021 (to be reviewed)
Salary: £17,250 per annum

Who are we?
Coaching Connexions is a nationwide college providing 16-19yr olds the opportunity to gain a career in sport, working in partnership with AFC Telford United where the education is held. The college is part of the Armstrong Learning Group who are the biggest EFA funded provider in the country. In their recent inspection the group achieved a “Good” rating in all categories from Ofsted.

The education and football provision provided at AFC Telford United has led to regional and national awards for its success in helping students progress into a variety of careers in sport.

What is the role?
The successful candidate will supervise students in their academic lessons to help them progress towards completing their qualification to the highest possible standard. They will work alongside dedicated teachers and support staff delivering high quality and inclusive teaching and learning.

They will also work with students to progress their football ability through technical and tactical coaching sessions as well as support students on Wednesday afternoons during competitive matches.

Essential Criteria:
An appropriate technical qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
FA Level 2 Coaching Badge
GCSE at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
Sports industry experience within football coaching and supporting learning in the classroom
Good communication skills and administrative skills
Ability to relate to diverse teaching groups
Understanding of equality and diversity within the curriculum, barriers to learning and strategies to overcome these
Commitment to learner success and safeguarding young people

Desirable Criteria:
An appropriate teaching qualification at level 3 or above
UEFA B Coaching Badge or higher
FA Coaching Badges in Goalkeeping
Experience of working in education in a post 16 setting.
Driving licence with D1 category
