AFC Telford United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Andy Van Ommeren as the club’s new Under-18s head coach.
He steps into the role after being the Under 16s manager for the last 12 months winning the Shropshire Premier Youth Cup at the New Bucks Head in April.
Van Ommeren brings a wealth experience to our youth team having working previously at Shrewsbury Town but has also spend some time working with our Under 14s and Under 15s age groups.
Alongside his full time role at Shrewsbury College as a Sports Lecturer and academy coach, Andy will work alongside the first team management staff to help bring through the best of our Under 18s players into our first team environment.
We are also delighted to announce that Andy Jackson has been promoted to assistant manager having spent the last 12 months as the Under 18s goalkeeper coach.
On the new of being announced the new head coach, ” I am grateful to the board and Luke Shelley for giving me the opportunity to lead the group. The success they’ve had over the previous two seasons speaks for itself and proves that there is a huge pool of talent in the area that can thrive in the correct environment.
Myself and Andy are full aware of that challenge ahead but we are excited to meet it head on and continue the fantastic foundations that have been created by Ben and his staff. I know what the club means to the supporters from living in the area; hopefully we can play a part in developing and preparing the next group of young players who will potentially represent the club at first team level.
We would like to congratulate Andy Van Ommeren and Andy Jackson on their deserved appointment and wish them the best of luck for the season.
