The Bucks are thrilled to be able to confirm the signing of central defender Fraser Kerr.
Fraser’s arrival ends a summer-long pursuit of the experienced Scot, who made 24 appearances for York City in the National League last season.
Hailing from Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire, Fraser began as a schoolboy with Motherwell but caught Birmingham City’s eye and switched to St. Andrews in 2009.
He returned to Motherwell, initially on loan, before moving permanently in 2013. Fraser also represented Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir before venturing south of Hadrian’s Wall to sign for Gateshead in 2017.
After the Heed, Fraser moved to Hartlepool United before swapping ends of the country to join Torquay United in 2020. He spent the 2021/22 season with Chesterfield before joining newly promoted York City in the summer of 2022.
Standing 6ft 2in tall, Fraser has representative honours for Scotland at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels.
Kevin Wilkin believes Fraser’s qualities and attributes will add to the Bucks squad:
“Fraser is a presence; he’s a big strong boy who has played at a good level, and hopefully he can share some of that experience with certain other players in the team and in the group.”
Fraser has been on the Bucks radar throughout summer, and it was evident from his new manager that his signing should help to address some areas where Wilkin feels the Bucks are lacking:
“There were things that I’ve thought have been been evident for a little while.I know we had the easier games starting off, but the last three games have been tough. We want tough games, but there was clear evidence on Tuesday night (at Tamworth) that we needed to find extra in certain areas and hopefully Fraser will be part of that.”
“Fraser ideally would be still be in full-time football and playing to that level; hopefully we can provide a bit of a springboard for him and he can move us forward from the position we find ourselves in, so that both the club and and Fraser grow together.”
Welcome to the New Buck’s Head, Fraser!
