Evans returns to the New Bucks Head

AFC Telford United are delighted to announce Sean Evans as the new manager for our Ladies team.

Evans first joined the club in 2017 where he guided the ladies to the league title during the 2017/18 season. He then left the New Bucks Head during the 2018/19 campaign where he ended up joining up with Shawbury men’s side to assist former U18s manager Dec Allen.

Sean will bring with him a wealth of experience of the women’s game back to the club having also spent a time as Shrewsbury Town Women’s at one point.

Of the appointment, Sean commented “I’m delighted to be back at the club and when the opportunity presented itself to return I couldn’t say no.

I very much feel I have unfinished business with the team. We had some great success with winning the league in our first season. I’m determined to bring that success back to the club.

I’m excited by the players we have currently and also what we have coming through our youth system. I met them all last night and they are all determined to do well. My aim is to finish the season well and then look to build from there into what I hope will be a very successful period for the club”

Football Operations Manager, Luke Shelley was delighted with Sean’s arrival. ‘Sean’s return to the club is an exciting and important step in the right direction for our Ladies. As a UEFA B coach, Sean will undoubtedly be an asset to the Ladies set up and I am delighted to have Sean on board.

Our female section is growing year on year and these are exciting times for our Ladies with so much talent coming through from the younger teams. Our previous Manager Chris did a fantastic job this season and in particular the impressive run in this season’s FA Cup and we are extremely grateful for his work and effort with the team; Alex Owen and Mick Hill will continue and work alongside Sean with the ladies and I am delighted that they will remain part of the set-up’

The ladies return to league action on Sunday 23rd January when Shrewsbury Town are the visitors. The fixture will kick off at 2pm at TCAT College.

Everyone at AFC Telford United would like to welcome Sean back to the club.
