AFC Telford United are working in partnership with SP Services to fund Defibrillators to the local grassroots football teams.
Considering recent events in Euro 2020, where Denmark star Christian Eriksen had his life saved by on field emergency medical treatment that included the use of a defibrillator to re-start his heart after a cardiac arrest. AFC Telford United have joined up with leading medical emergency supplies provider SP Supplies, based on Hortonwood in Telford, in an initiative that will give local grassroots football teams the opportunity to win a defibrillator for their club and to raise funds to purchase one themselves.
In an effort to make sure that similar equipment that saved Eriksen’s life can be available to grassroot teams, AFC Telford United will be organising a raffle, where, alongside some great football prizes, there will also be a number of defibrillators as prizes. SP Services will be donating the main defibrillator prize, AFCTU will have also be calling on local business to donate money to fund further defibrillator units as further prizes.
Tickets for the raffle will be sold by the grassroots teams themselves and all funds generated by the raffle ticket sales will stay with the selling club, provided they commit to use the funds to purchase a defibrillator from SP Services, who will be making a significant contribution to each sale to ensure the price of the units are well below market cost.
Tickets for the raffle will be available to affiliated grassroots clubs in Telford via the football club – if you would like to register your interest, please contact the Football club on the details below. More details on this process to follow next week.
In the meantime, any local business that would like to donate or contribution towards a defibrillator as a prize should contact Ian Preece on 07545 891769 or email on [email protected]
