Ian Preece AFC Telford United Foundation Manager commented: “As we all know, times have been exceptionally hard for all, some more than others. There is a considerably high number of families in the area experiencing extreme financial hardship first hand. As a result we would like to show our support by putting on a free Kids Christmas activity club. Each child will be provided with breakfast, a stadium tour and also given the chance to take part in football coaching workshops. There will also be games and fun activities taking place with a Christmas theme getting into the spirit. There will be special guests making an appearance and will each be gifted an Xmas present. This is just the start of these free kids activity clubs which will be on offer through February half term, Easter, whit week, August and October. This is in association with Cllr Lee Carter, Cllr Angela McClements and Telford and Wrekin Council. I want to say that we are working side-by-side to support our community”.
Cllr Angela McClements for Arleston Ward commented: “This is a fantastic initiative for young people across Arleston and College and I am so pleased to have worked alongside Cllr Carter and Telford United and Telford & Wrekin Council to get it kick-started before the Christmas period. Although Covid has restricted numbers on this occasion, this is just the start of providing much needed youth provision for both boys and girls in both Arleston & College and I am looking forward to building on the success of this new venture with more activities planned in February and Easter for more young people in our area.”
Councillor Lee Carter for College Ward said “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to work together with Telford & Wrekin Council and Telford United to start this provision for College Ward Families. Residents for a long time have been asking for Youth Provision in the area and this is a great start; I know the great potential of the football club to provide a great experience for youngsters and I’m delighted that youngsters living on the doorstep of the Bucks Head will benefit from this. I’ll continue to work with the Club, Council, Arleston Ward Councillor Angela McClements and Local Businesses and others to make sure we establish a great provision for local Kids.”
