AFC Telford United Football Club and Capgemini are teaming up to raise awareness of the societal impact of homophobia in football
As part of the Active Inclusion programme, Capgemini is working alongside AFC Telford United Football Club to organise Kicking It OUTfront, a football event to raise awareness of the societal impact of homophobia in football
Taking place on November 16, this fun filled family day out will see the players wearing a one-off redesigned kit for the home match against Spennymoor Town, featuring an LGBT+ inspired rainbow flag and the Capgemini logo, alongside the logos of other shirt sponsors. After the match, the players’ shirts will be auctioned and funds raised will be donated to the XYZ Youth Group, a charity which supports LGBT+ young people in Shropshire. Capgemini has been the main shirt sponsor for over 15 years.
This collaborative event is supported by Football V Homophobia, Telford Mind, Shropshire Youth Association – XYZ Youth Group, Proud Baggies – West Bromwich Albion Football Clubs LGBT+ Supporters’ Group and Telford Samaritans.
Billie Major, Capgemini’s VP and event sponsor, commented: “Kicking It OUTfront perfectly combines our passion for Active Inclusion with our Sponsorship of AFC Telford United. Recent events show we still have some way to go to make football a truly inclusive sport. We understand the importance of diversity and inclusion in making the workplace better and at Capgemini, our support for the LGBT+ community is integral to our ethos.”
Ian Dosser, Managing Director at AFC Telford United, said: “AFC Telford United fully supports Capgemini’s diversity and inclusion agenda and this collaboration allows the football club to further enhance our policies and behaviours, an opportunity the club have readily taken. We are proud to demonstrate our full support of Football v Homophobia initiatives and our dedication to kicking out all forms of homophobia in football. The club are committed to continuing to provide an inclusive environment for our staff, volunteers, football teams and everyone that attends our matches.”
