Bucks Bulletin – 6th August

Opening two League games

Our first team squad is working hard preparing for our first league game of the season on Saturday 9th August away to Kings Lynn.

Any supporters able to travel to Kings Lynn this Saturday 9th August we would much appreciate that and of course we look forward to seeing a good attendance at our first home game v Curzon Ashton on Saturday 16th August kick off 3pm.

First Team Matchday Secretary

We have appointed a new first team Secretary. He is away on a pre arranged holiday for our first game, but he will start with us at our first home game on Saturday 16th August.

Kit Update

A subject that we have noted a few comments on is outstanding orders for our new Nike kit.

When we approved the new kit, we didn’t spot that the sponsor’s logo on the back had been positioned below the seam that runs horizontally between the shoulder blades.

The issue only came to our attention once we had received the players’ shirts. The players, having been given the vote, have chosen to have their names and squad numbers on the shirts this season; however, when our kitman Tom began assessing the shirts for placement of the lettering and numbers, it quickly became apparent that they wouldn’t fit beneath the logo on the back of the shirt, or would fit but wouldn’t look good..

Feeling that supporters may also want to have names and numbers on the backs of their shirts, we decided to halt the orders and request that they be corrected, with the logo above the seam.

Inevitably, this has delayed some orders, for which we apologise unreservedly.

We hope that knowing you’ll get a shirt to which you can add personalisation will make the wait worthwhile. If you would like your shirt personalised in this way, you will need to purchase the shirt first, and we can then add the personalisation. We will also be able to add the Enterprise National League North logo to the sleeve, so that your colours are as close to the ones worn on the field as possible. Look out for details of this and some approximate costs in due course.

Finally, our supplier have assured us that their goal is to fulfil at least 80% of the orders they’ve received before our first home league game, against Curzon Ashton on Saturday, 16th August.

Season Tickets

Season Tickets remain available through to our home game v Curzon Ashton on Saturday 16th August.

Just a reminder for supporters who purchased a season ticket and requested an actual physical ticket/card: your opportunity to receive such a card has now passed, with Friday, 1st August, being the deadline.

Club Shop Update

We have noted the questions regarding our on-site club shop at the SEAH Stadium that have been vexing supporters and this was raised in a good positive way at our recent fans’ forum.

The club fully supports having an onsite club shop open on a matchday.

We are thrilled to say that a wonderful highly suitable volunteer expressed an interest at the fans forum in running the club shop and it will be open at the first home game on 16th August. We appreciate this offer hugely and we can never have enough volunteers.

The more volunteers we have, the easier the tasks become, and they also become less of an imposition on people’s time, so please consider offering your time if you are at all able to.

Car Park Fraud Update

First of all, we’d like to express our thanks to those of you who alerted us to the suspicious activity involving the QR codes on Avalon Parking’s signage in the SEAH Stadium car park.

We have followed this up with West Mercia Police. They have advised, regretfully, that there is little they can do in this situation. The bogus website the QR codes directed people to is Lithuanian-registered, and the intelligence they have on similar scams suggests that this is part of a much larger, organised crime activity, one that falls outside UK law.

If you think you have potentially used the bogus website, the police advise contacting your card provider, cancelling your card, and requesting a new one. It is probable that the fraud is not limited to taking a small amount for a car park charge, and that the fraudsters might make subsequent attempts to take further sums from your account.

The police also urge people to be vigilant in any similar circumstances. If you have any suspicions about any website you are directed to by a QR code, exercise caution, and if in doubt, don’t hand over any personal information.

Avalon Parking provides the QR codes on the signage and these are now being checked daily, although they are not the only way to pay for your parking at the SEAH Stadium. You can pay, either in advance or upon arrival, via our smartphone app, at the payment machines in the car park, or the ticket office kiosk when it is open.

Media Day

You may have seen some comments on social media regarding the photographer we engaged for our media day on Saturday, August 2nd. Although we are somewhat reluctant to respond in this way, we feel it is only fair to defend Euan from what we consider to be some unwarranted criticism.

Based on a previous conversation, our understanding was that our regular photographer was unavailable, with the pre-season game at Shifnal Town being the only pre-season game he could or would attend.

Given this, we offered Euan the opportunity, one which he had not been expecting but which we gladly accepted, given how keen he is to develop in the field of sports photography.

There was no intention on our part to make anyone feel unappreciated or overlooked.

Media Day part 2

Player sponsors and members of the Junior Bucks were invited to the stadium on Saturday morning to get a little closer to the players as they had their photographs taken for the season, and they also received breakfast.

We hope all those who attended enjoyed the opportunity to see the Bucks striking a pose.

New Mascot

As you may have seen from the Telford United Supporters’ Association’s (TUSA) recent post, we have a new mascot lined up to take on the role vacated by the brilliant but now retired Bobby the Buck.

By way of clarification, the funds that TUSA hopes to raise will help to clothe our new mascot upon their arrival.

If you can help by donating or suggesting further ideas to TUSA to help our new mascot have the very best outfit we can afford, then get in touch with Emma Dean at TUSA.

Congratulations!

In case you missed the news, we have a new father in the Bucks’ ranks, and we send our very best wishes to goalkeeper Brandon Hall and his wife Hattie on the birth of their daughter on 22nd July 2025.

Milestones

When you’re as dedicated a Bucks follower as club statistician Maurice Barker, the close season can drag, so how to fill the time?

In Maurice’s case, he brings his meticulous, hand-written records up to date and digs out nuggets of information, the kind we can’t get enough of.

Maurice has been busy, and he has picked out some ones to look out for in the coming season :

With 77 Bucks appearances across his two spells with the club, Matty Stenson’s 23rd competitive appearance of the season will be his 100th for us.

Matty also has another scoring record in his sights. He currently stands on 43 goals in all competitions for the Bucks, so he needs seven more to reach 50, but that’s not all! If Matty can hit 13 goals this season, he’ll tie Andy Brown as the club’s leading scorer in the AFC era, and 14 goals will put him out on his own as the AFC Telford United scoring leader.

Having joined the Bucks two summers ago, we have three players all within striking distance of joining the Bucks’ 100 appearances club.

Brandon Hall, currently on 91 appearances, will reach his century when he makes his ninth appearance of the season. Orrin Pendley is close behind Brandon, and his 86 appearances mean his 14th appearance of the campaign will see him reach three figures. Finally, Remi Walker, currently on 80 appearances, will join them on 100+ when he makes his twentieth appearance of the season.

Jordan Piggott, our longest-serving Buck on 133 appearances, will top the 150 mark with his 17th appearance of the season. Piggo is very proud of his appearance record, often asking how many he is on now, so there’s no chance we’ll miss this one!

Finally we look forward to welcoming everybody back to the SEAH stadium for our first home league match on Saturday 16th August.

Thank you for your support and up the Bucks.
