AFC Telford United would like to place on record our appreciation and thanks to Brendon Daniels, who will not be extending his stay at the club into the 2023/24 season.
Brendon has been training and playing with the squad in pre-season; however, Kevin Wilkin has decided not to pursue the option of a playing deal for Brendon.
Explaining his decision, Kevin said: “I know it’s not going to be a popular decision amongst people, but I just feel it’s for the best, and that we’ve got to look forward. Brendon’s been a terrific servant to the club and it’s always disappointing when these situations happen.”
“I’ve given Brendon an opportunity through pre-season and he hasn’t quite stepped up to the levels that he’s perhaps been capable of previously. Hopefully a fresh challenge will see him back to the sort of form that we know he’s capable of showing.”
Brendon joined the Bucks, initially on loan, during the 2018/19 season, before making his stay permanent in the summer of 2019.
He established himself as a popular member of the playing squad and endeared himself to supporters during this time, contributing not least a number of eye-catching goals from free-kicks.
We wish Brendon all the very best for the future and extend a hand of friendship to him.
You will always be welcome at the New Buck’s Head, Brendon – thank you.
