Match Review
The Bucks made it four league wins from four in 2026, as they ran out 2-0 winners at Spennymoor.
After a cagey opening 20 minutes, the Bucks created the game’s two first good chances in as many minutes. First, Dylan Allen-Hadley met a Jordan Cranston cross from the left with a glancing header, but the ball flew just over the angle of post and bar. Cranston was involved again two minutes later when he whipped a ball across the box that a sliding Matty Stenson was only inches away from connecting with.
The Moors first real effort on goal came in the 25th minute, when Cam Salkeld smashed a low effort goalwards from the edge of the area, but his strike went just wide of the left post. The game was starting to open up into an end-to-end affair now, with both sides fashioning a number of decent chances; Salkeld and Allen-Hadley most notably going close again.
Shortly before half time, Ammar Dyer’s deep cross nearly found its way all the way in, as it looped over Brad James but bounced down off the bar. 0-0 at the break.
Kevin Wilkin’s men looked to make a fast start after the break and really should have been ahead on 49 minutes. Allen-Hadley was sent clear down the middle, but the Dylan couldn’t find the target as he hit the ball wide of the post.
But the Bucks were ahead in the 56th minute. Jordan Piggott played a lovely ball through to Remi Walker who made no mistake to drill the ball past Brad James, whose slip certainly helped make things easier for the Telford midfield man.
Walker had the ball in the net again ten minutes. Piggott’s ball into the box found Stenson, whose effort came back off the post and fell to Walker who fired home from close range, but the linesman had his flag up, and the goal was ruled out for offside.
The Moors made a triple substitution in pursuit of a leveller, but the Bucks were defending well and were largely untroubled in the second half. The game was finally put to bed in added time when Charlie Williams took advantage of a stretched Moors defence to drive into the box down the left before rounding James and slotting in from an acute angle.
It finished 2-0 to the Bucks, as Wilkin’s men made it seven wins from the last eight in the league.
