Match report
After an even start, Kevin Wilkin’s men grabbed the iniative in the 15th minute thanks to Remi Walker’s 8th goal of the season. With the Silkmen pushing at one end, the Bucks sprung a quick counterattack with Jamie Meddows sliding an excellent pass through to Walker, who advanced forward and slotted the ball wide of the advancing Max Dearnley and in off the keeper’s right post.
The Silkmen were shading the possession, but the Bucks were looking more dangerous, as they looked to hit the hosts on the break. Josh Gracey made a decent stop to keep out Danny Elliott’s effort on the turn on 32 minutes, but there wasn’t too much else for the Telford stopper to do in the first half. The Bucks went in 1-0 up at the break.
Wilkin’s men made a strong start to the second 45 too, and were looking in control in the early stages to half. But while the Bucks were on top, opportunites with limited to half chances and dangerous balls into the box rather than anything clear cut.
And the Bucks were made to pay on 62 minutes, as Macclesfield found an equaliser. David Solademi was penalised for a foul on D’Mani Mellor as the two contested a bouncing ball on the right corner of the box, and from the subsequent freekick, Elliott hit a superb left-footed effort across Gracey and into his top right-hand corner.
Both sides pushed and probed over the remaining half an hour, but neither team could find a winner and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. A point was certainly the least the Bucks deserved and, in the end, was probably about right, but the Bucks might feel that they could have moved the game away from Macc when the score was still at 1-0.
