"Bucks looking to get back to winning ways against the Crows"
Match Date : February 6th, 2024 7:45 pm
Competition : Southern League Premier Central
Ground : Garden Walk, Royston, Hertfordshire, SG8 7HP
Kick Off : 19:45
The Bucks head to Hertfordshire to take on in-form Royston Town on Tuesday night.
The Crows have had a notably up and down season so far, swinging between impressive unbeaten runs and long losing streaks. After losing 3-0 at the New Bucks Head on the opening day, Royston lost their first home game of the season 4-0 to Bromsgrove before embarking on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions. Their form then fell off a cliff for a couple of months as they lost 11 of their next 14 outings, but the Crows are currently on a run that has seen them pick up 19 points from a possible 24.
16 of the points in the Crows’ current run have come since joint-manager Steve Castle left the club just before Christmas. Castle previously led Town to the Southern Football League Division One Central during the 2016/17, and, other than last season when they finished 13th, his side had finished in the top ten every year since their promotion. Last summer Royston rejigged their management structure though, with Chris Watters – who himself has been with the Crows as a player and coach for the better part of a decade – joining Castle as joint-manager. Watters is now solely in charge, and his side are currently well-placed in 9th place.
The Bucks’ long unbeaten run came to an end at Needham Market on Saturday, but Kevin Wilkin’s men will be looking to get back to winning ways as soon as possible. Goals from Ricardo Dinanga, Remi Walker and Montel Gibson helped fire the Bucks to that opening day success over the Crows, and Wilkin’s men will be hoping for a repeat of that performance on Tuesday night.
Tickets can be bought on the gate. Please refer to Royston’s matchday ticketing information page for prices.
