"Telford aim to seal first points of 2021 at Chester"
Match Date : January 2nd, 2021 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Lookers Vauxhall Stadium
Kick Off : 15:00
The Bucks begin 2021 with a trip to Chester on Saturday, with Gavin Cowan’s men looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 reverse at home to the Blues.
Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side came from behind to win at the New Bucks Head on Boxing Day. Aaron Williams opener for the Bucks was swiftly cancelled out by Chester captain George Glendon before Anthony Dudley won it for the Blues in the second half.
Having scored against the Bucks on Boxing Day, Dudley was on the scoresheet for Chester goal again on Monday. While the Bucks’ midweek festive fixture at Kidderminster was called off due to snow, Chester’s match with Chorley was on as scheduled – the Blues falling to a 2-1 defeat against Jamie Vermiglio’s improving Magpies. However, Dudley’s strike means that he’s now scored in each of Chester’s last four games.
Chorley’s win is only the eighth time that Chester have lost at home in the league since the start of the 2018/19 season. The Blues suffered just three home league defeats in each of the last two seasons, and they have now picked up 12 points from 18 on their on patch this term.
The Bucks have picked up seven points from the last 12 available on the road, though, and kept a clean sheet when the two teams met at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium last season – the game finishing goalless. Gavin Cowan will no doubt be hoping for a similarly resilient display this weekend, as the Bucks look to land their first points of 2021 at the first attempt.
Chester is in a Tier 4 area, so supporters are not allowed to attend fixtures. However, you can watch a live stream of the game provided by our hosts.
