"Bucks after a smashing performance against Glassboys"
Match Date : September 26th, 2023 7:45 pm
Competition : Southern League Central
Ground : War Memorial Athletic Ground
Kick Off : 19:45
Next up for the Bucks is a short trip to Stourbridge on Tuesday night.
The Glassboys had started the season in fine form and were riding high until consecutive league defeats to Needham Market, Halesowen and Stamford dented their momentum. It means the Worcestershire club have now 13 points from their eight games so far and sit in 11th place in the table.
Led by joint managers Leon Broadhurst and Stuart Pierpoint since 2021, Stourbridge finished last season in 10th and were 11th the campaign before that. And the management duo will be keen to improve again this season at a club they both know very well. Pierpoint was previously captain of the club during a four-year spell, while Broadhurst is the Glassboy’s record appearance maker, having turned out 780 appearances for Stourbridge between 2003 and 2019.
The Glassboys lost some key men in the summer in the shape of 24-goal top scorer Jason Cowley (Hereford), midfielder Callum Rowe (Rushall) and marauding full back Tyler Little (Brackley). But new arrivals include former Buck Brendon Daniels, ex-Leamington midfielder Alex Prosser and forward Luke Benbow, who returns for his fifth stint with the Glassboys having most recently spent four years with Nuneaton. And all three have been among the goals, with Benbow bagging nine, Daniels two and Prosser three so far this season.
The Bucks last made the trip to the War Memorial Athletic Ground in December 2021, when Paul Carden’s side were knocked out of the FA Trophy following a 3-2 defeat. Montel Gibson scored twice for the Glassboys that day. But with Gibson now plying his trade in Shropshire, the Bucks will be hoping for a better result this time around.
