Telford make the long trip north to face Spennymoor Town this weekend, with Dennis Greene leading the Bucks for the first time.
Greene and his assistant, Alex Meechan, were appointed as the Bucks’ interim management team on Wednesday, following the departure of Gavin Cowan earlier in the week. And the new duo will be looking to kick start the Bucks’ campaign after a difficult start to the season.
Spennymoor have also fairly recently changed their management. Long-serving manager Jason Ainsley left the Moors last December after almost 14 years in charge of the County Durham club. Former assistant Tommy Miller subsequently took the reins on an interim basis before being confirmed as permanent boss in April.
Miller has been with Town since 2016, and he has stood by the squad that he helped to shape during Ainsley’s tenure. A handful of new additions have been drafted in to bolster key areas of the team, though. The most notable new face is midfielder Brad Abbott, who arrives after four years with Boston United.
The Moors are usually in and around the playoff picture, and that looks likely to be the case again this season. Miller’s side currently sit 4th in the league after five wins and two defeats, while the ever-dangerous Glen Taylor sits joint top of the division’s scoring charts with seven league goals – he has two more to his name in the FA Cup as well.
The Bucks, meanwhile, currently sit in 20th with four points from six game, failing to find the net in four of those games. However, the Bucks have never lost to Spennymoor in nine match ups between the two clubs. Greene and Meechan will no doubt be hoping to extend that run when the sides meet at the Brewery Field on Saturday, as the Bucks look for their first points on the road this season.
