"Bucks gear up for Brakes"
Match Date : August 26th, 2019 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00
For the third season in a row, the Bucks will face Leamington on August bank holiday Monday. But while the past two campaigns have seen the Bucks head to Warwickshire for the bank holiday fixture, this time the Brakes will be visiting the New Bucks head.
Paul Holleran’s side started last season in fine form and flirted with the playoffs at stages. But then-top scorer, Matt Stenson, departed for Solihull Moors and although Colby Bishop took on the goalscoring mantle for the Brakes, Leamington ended up in 13th place.
Bishop, who notched 29 goals in 36 games in all competitions last season, has subsequently left Leamington, joining Accrington Stanley in the summer. Much of Holleran’s squad remains the same, though, and features a number of former Bucks, including Kieran Dunbar Jordan Murphy, Callum Gittings and Kaiman Anderson. Meanwhile, forward Josh Marsh has impressed with four goals since his summer move from Alvechurch, and midfielder George Carline has recently arrived on loan from Solihull.
Leamington have made a similar start to the Bucks and currently sit in 12th on eight points – one ahead of the Bucks.
After Saturday’s win over Southport, the Bucks will be eager to record back to back wins for the first time this season.
Telford are unbeaten in the last four encounters with the Brakes, and Gavin Cowan’s men ran out comfortable 4-1 when the sides last met at the New Bucks Head. A repeat of that performance would of course be more than welcomed by the Telford faithful.
