Match Preview
"Bucks aiming to halt winless run at Brakes"
Match Date : December 28th, 2021 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Phillips 66 Community Stadium
Kick Off : 15:00
Sandwiched between our festive double-header with Chester is a trip to Leamington on Tuesday.
Paul Holleran’s Brakes began the season in decent form and were in the playoff places not too long ago. However, a run of six games without a win, during which they’ve scored just three times, has seen the Warwickshire club slip down to 11th – although they remain just three points off the playoffs.
Leamington’s recent downturn in form largely coincides with the absence of influential captain Jack Edwards. The Brakes skipper has been out after suffering intermittent symptoms of blurred vision, dizziness and headaches.
The Brakes squad features former Bucks Steph Morley, Callum Gittings and Kaiman Anderson – the latter netted Leamington’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw at the New Bucks Head in October. Meanwhile, forwards Dan Turner and Kelsey Mooney lead the way for the Brakes with four goals apiece.
The Bucks are still yet to win on the road in the league this season, something that new boss Paul Carden will look to put right as he takes charge of his first away game in the National League North. And previous meetings between the two sides suggest that Tuesday’s encounter will be evenly poised; the Bucks have won three, drawn three and lost three of the nine fixtures against the Brakes. But the Bucks have never lost at the New Windmill Ground, recording two draws and a win on three visits to Warwickshire.
