"Bucks and Bulls lock horns in Good Friday clash"
Match Date : April 15th, 2022 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Edgar Street
Kick Off : 15:00
The Bucks lock horns with the Bulls at Edgar Street on Good Friday.
Hereford have blown hot and cold this season. Josh Gowling’s side picked up just two points from their first five games but then went unbeaten in their next five in all competitions. It’s a pattern that has continued for most of the season, with the Bulls flipping between winning and winless streaks.
After six wins in eight, Hereford are currently on a run of one win in their last nine games. But despite their current form, the Bulls are just four points off the playoffs in 12th place.
Gowling first took the reins at Edgar Street in 2019 before being given the role on a permanent basis in the summer of 2020. And the Bulls have made steady, if unspectacular, improvement under the former Kidderminster defender’s leadership.
At the back, Gowling can call on experienced campaigners Jared Hodgkiss and Krystian Pearce. In midfield, Ben Pollock has impressed in recent weeks, while tenacious attacking midfielder Tom Owen-Evans is having another good campaign and is the Bulls’ top scorer with 14 goals. Meanwhile, up front the Bulls can now call on former Buck Andre Wright, who joined Hereford on deadline day.
AFC Telford haven’t won in four visits to Edgar Street, but games between the Bucks and the Bulls tend to be tight – six of the seven games between the two clubs have finished either 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1.
Of course, the Bucks haven’t won away in the league all season, although Paul Carden’s men have drawn seven of their last ten on the road – with the three defeats coming at promotion-chasing Gateshead, Brackley and York. But with the Bucks currently six games unbeaten, Paul Carden will be hoping his men can make it a very good Friday with three important away points.
