"Bucks looking to finish on a high against the Ravens"

The Bucks will finish the regular season this weekend at Coalville Town.

The Ravens came within a whisker of winning the Southern League Premier Central last season, losing out to champions Tamworth on goal difference alone. Town subsequently lost on penalties in the playoff semi final to eventual winners Rushall. And having come so close last season, Coalville were among the pre-season favourites this time around.

But while the Ravens made it to the quarter finals of this year’s FA Trophy, their league form has been very up and down. And that inconsistency saw manager Adam Stevens leave the club at the start of February. Ian King was swiftly drafted in from Leicestershire neighbours Barwell, but results have remained patchy. Town have been perfectly inconsistent over their last 12 league games, in fact, winning four, drawing four, and losing four.

Currently 11th, Coalville can can finish 9th at best, but even that will feel under par for a club who have placed 3rd and 2nd in the last two campaigns. But the Raven’s main man up front, Tim Berridge, has once again impressed with 16 league goals to his name. While dangerous midfielder Tom McGlinchey made his 300th appearance for the Ravens in the recent goalless draw with Stourbridge.

The Ravens have proved a tricky opponent for the Bucks this season. Coalville knocked the Bucks out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at the New Bucks Head in September, and they showed impressive resolve to battle their way back to earn a 1-1 draw in the January’s league meeting. Kevin Wilkin will no doubt be hoping his men can find a winning formula this time around, as the Bucks look to end the campaign on a high.
