"Bucks aiming to tame the Tigers"

Match Date : February 7th, 2026 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Sandy Lane
Kick Off : 15:00

The Bucks will be looking to maintain their excellent league form when they take on Worksop Town this Saturday.

A founder member of the Conference North, Worksop regained their Step 2 status this year for the first time since 2007. The Nottinghamshire club have endured some tumultuous times during their absence from Step 2. Financial issues led to relegations and the loss of their Sandy Lane ground, but happier times started returning following Worksop 2018-19 Northern Counties East League title win. The club has since regained ownership of Sandy Lane and won the Division One East title in 2023, before going to pick up a third promotion in six years by winning the Northern Premier League playoffs this May. The Tigers finished 26 points behind runaway leaders Macclesfield, but they went on to beat Ashton United and Guiseley in the playoffs to clinch promotion.

The man who has overseen much of Worksop’s rise is Craig Parry. Having previously led Pontefract Collieries to back-to-back promotions, Parry joined the Tigers in May 2020 and the club has not looked back since. Town made a solid start to life back at Step 2 with 11 points from their opening seven games, but their form has been patchier since and they find themselves in 18th place on 32 points. The Tigers are currently winless in five, but that sequence includes good draws with Kidderminster, Darlington, and Scarborough.

Parry added former Mickleover man Oli Greaves to his squad this week following the attacker’s release from Buxton. Greaves’ arrival will help fill the void left by the departure of the talismanic Liam Hughes, who left for Cleethorpes Town in January. That said, the Tigers have a good crop of forwards, with both Jordan Burrows and Aaron Martin having bagged ten goals this season, while key midfielder Aleksandrs Starcenko has five strikes to his name.

The Bucks head into Saturday’s game in fine form having racked up seven wins in their last eight games, while Wilkin’s men came from behind to beat the Tigers 2-1 earlier in the season. While the Bucks deserved that win at the SEAH Stadium, they were made to work extremely hard for it by Parry’s side who will always fight until the end. Indeed, very few sides have run away with games against Worksop, so Wilkin’s men will need to be prepared to battle for every ball if they are to return from Nottinghamshire with all three points.
