We are pleased to confirm the signing of Edward Elewa-Ikpakwu.
Ed, who will celebrate his 25th birthday in January, joins us as a free agent after linking up with the Bucks for several recent training sessions.
He began his career with spells in the academy sides at several Premier League clubs before making his first steps into semi-professional football with Lancaster City in 2020.
Ed has had three spells with the Dolly Blues, interspersed with spells at Hyde United and Colne, and Kevin Wilkin felt Ed’s ability and experience were a good fit for the Bucks.
“Edward’s trained with us for a couple of weeks now, been to a couple of games, so he kind of knows what we’re about. He can hopefully come in and fill a bit of a void for us, and we’ll see where it goes.”
As Kevin explained, Ed’s link-up with the Bucks came about through several factors coming together.
“He was put in contact with us, and obviously, when we think there’s a profile behind it that might appeal to us, then we’ll get them in and have a look at them, so that’s what we’ve done. We’ve been quite impressed with what he’s done in training, so there might now be an opportunity to see him in a game.”
Ed, who was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, but is English by residence, is a right-footed defensive midfielder who can also cover the centre-back and right-back positions, giving the Bucks additional cover in several areas.
We hope you will join us in giving Ed a warm welcome to the SEAH Stadium.
Welcome to the Bucks, Ed!
