"Bucks lock horns with the Bulls on Tuesday night"

Match Date : October 21st, 2025 7:45 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Edgar Street
Kick Off : 19:45

The Bucks will make the comparatively short trip to Edgar Street on Tuesday night to take on Hereford.

The Bulls have been steadily improving since the arrival of Paul Caddis in April 2023. In his first campaign in charge, the former Birmingham City man guided Hereford to their highest ever finish and highest points total since reforming (11th, 69 points), and he repeated the trick last season too (10th, 76 points) – the Bulls missing out on the playoffs by a single point.

Hereford will no doubt be looking to improve again this season, and they’ve made a solid enough start to the 2025/26 campaign. Caddis’ side lost 2-1 at league leaders South Shields on Saturday, ending a run of five unbeaten in the league. The Bulls currently sit 14th on 14 points.

Caddis refreshed his squad over the summer with arrivals including keeper Theo Richardson (Fylde), centre back Keenan Quansah (Southport) and talented young loanees Matt Richards (West Brom), I-Lani Edwards (Aston Villa) and Madou Cisse (Notts County). The Bulls did lose some key men, though, in the form of defensive duo Sam Robinson and Tate Campbell (both Buxton) and attacker Jaiden White (Sutton United). Former Bucks Montel Gibson recently returned to the Bulls on loan, only to cut his time at Edgar Street short to instead join Hednesford Town on a permanent deal.

Under Caddis, the Bulls have tended to fare ever so slightly better in front of their own fans, although there’s not much to separate their home and away record. Last season, Hereford had the division’s 8th-best home record in 2024/25, but defeats to Chorley and King’s Lynn and a draw with Bedford have seen the Bulls make a slower start than they might have liked at Edgar Street this campaign. Caddis’ side were also dumped out of the FA Cup on home soil, going down 3-0 to Hemel Hempstead.

The Bucks haven’t beaten the Bulls in the eight encounters since Hereford reformed in 2014. But while Hereford have won four of those games, fixtures between the two sides have always been tight – neither side has scored more than one goal in any of those matches, with a total of just eight goals across the eight games between the sides to date. Appropriately enough, then, the last meeting of the two teams was a goalless draw at Edgar Street in March 2023.

Kevin Wilkin’s men picked up a first away win of the campaign two weekends again, hammering Darlington 6-0 in the FA Cup, and followed that up with Saturday’s excellent 4-1 win over high-flying Scarborough. But the Bucks are still looking for a first league win on the road, having picked up just two points from five away games so far. The Bucks will be looking to improve on that away record on Tuesday night.
