Bucks Add Ammar

We are pleased to confirm the signing of Ammar Dyer.

Ammar, previously with Alvechurch, is a full-back who interested manager Kevin Wilkin last season and whom the club tried to bring aboard.

With the Bucks also keen on Dylan Allen-Hadley and the ‘Church reluctant to let both players leave together, Kevin assessed Dylan’s position as the priority. Ammar has subsequently trained and played with the Bucks in pre-season, but had this curtailed by an injury.

Now fit once more, Kevin has sought to strengthen his defensive options by adding Ammar and feels that his versatility and pace will be assets.

“Yeah, he’d been with us and training on and off with us through the preseason, had a bit of an injury, and we’ve been keen to sign him; he’s been on our radar for a little while now. Hopefully, he can kick on; he’s been a solid Step 3 player who we feel can give us a little bit of a boost down either side.”

Bucks fans may recall Ammar from pre-season and also for scoring for the ‘Church in a 1-1 draw at the SEAH Stadium last season; however, it’s his defensive qualities that primarily identified him as a potential signing.

“He is very versatile; he’s primarily been a left fullback, but he can play right fullback, so he’ll add some competition in those two areas for us and hopefully start to raise the standard to which we’ve been working.”

Ammar’s arrival potentially restores his playing partnership with Dylan, which Kevin believes could be beneficial.

“Yeah, they’re very aware of one another, and they’re young men looking to take that step forward. I know people will probably want more experience in the back line, but the one thing he will bring us is plenty of energy, and he’s got good pace; he’s very quick, and that will be a threat and something you need in the modern game. He ticked a lot of the boxes, and obviously, he’s another one that we’ve got to get a progression out of. He’s had a lot of interest from clubs over and above us, so I’m delighted to get him on board and hopefully he can enjoy his time with us.”

Welcome to the Bucks, Ammar!
