Matty Brown

Date of birth: 15 March 1990

Biography

At 6’4” tall, imposing central defender Matty joined the Bucks in summer 2022 following his release from York City.

Hailing from Crosby on Merseyside, he began his career playing youth football at Tranmere Rovers and Manchester City. He then played semi-professionally with Northwich Victoria and Marine before a successful trial at Chesterfield earned him a professional contract in 2013. Loan spells with Southport and Chester following his release by the Spireites.

In 2015 Matty signed for FC Halifax Town, where he made over 100 appearances and was part of the team that won promotion via the play-offs to the National League.

After leaving the Shaymen in 2020, Matty signed for another Yorkshire club, York City, and was club captain as the Minstermen won promotion back to the National League in 2022, another successful play-off campaign.

Matty was appointed club captain by manager Paul Carden ahead of the 2022/23 season.
