A native of Stoke-on-Trent, he began his career at Crewe Alexandra but dropped into non-league with spells at Chester, Gateshead and Tamworth. He etablished his reputation in the semi-pro game with an outstanding 2016/16 season with Harrogate Town, where his 22 goals earned him a move to big spending AFC Fylde. He helped the Coasters to promotion before joining Alfreton Town for the 2017/18 season, and his performances there earned him a six-month deal at Port Vale, spending time on loan at Altrincham and then the Bucks.
