Walsall Ladies
2 v 2

AFC Telford Ladies
Match Review
It was a trip to Dales Lane, the home of Rushall Olympic and Walsall Women for our final game of January. The Bucks knew they’d be in for a battle against a Walsall side that already knocked them out of the league cup, coming back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory back in November.
Both sides were up against the elements but fortunately the game went ahead on the 3G surface.
It was the away side that opened the scoring mid way through the first half; with a goal created with great work from the left hand side. Libby White picked up the ball before setting up Sasha Woodhouse. Sasha beat her marker for pace before a pinpoint cross was met by the late arriving Charlotte Budd whose header into the ground beat the keeper for pace. It was a half that was largely controlled by the Bucks creating number go chances. However, they were unable to find that second goal that their pressure deserved.
HALF TIME: Walsall FC 0 AFC Telford 1
With the conditions worsening, the second half was a cagey affair with few chances of notes. Two goals in 3 minutes mid way into the second half would swing the game in the favour of the home side. The first came from a free kick just inside the Bucks half which was misjudged by captain Nicholson forcing Mia Bansal to make a diving save. The loose ball was picked up by the Walsall striker to finish from a couple of yards out. Just two minutes later Walsall took the lead. A long ball from the hosts caused confusion in defence before the loose ball fell to the Walsall striker who finished passed Bansal from an acute angle.
It looked like the Bucks unbeaten league run would be coming to an end as they fought for a way back into the game creating a number of good chances. Then in the 92nd minute, the pressed paid off as a corner was headed home by Liv Bellamy despite the attempts of the Saddlers defender on the line.
The unbeaten run goes on in what could be a crucial point come the end of the season.
