Match Preview

"Bucks hoping to seal three points against Chester"

Match Date : December 26th, 2021 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00

The Bucks kick off the festive fixtures with a home match against Chester.

The Blues are currently managerless having dismissed duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley at the end of November. Defensive veterans Danny Livesey and former Telford skipper Simon Grand are currently in charge while the club continue their search for a long-term appointment.

Chester are currently 16th, with 19 points from 17 games, and have lost four of their last five games in all competitions – including defeats to Hereford, a free-falling Spennymoor Town and Guiseley.

Forwards George Waring and Anthony Dudley have bagged three goals apiece for the Blues, while former Buck James Hardy also features in the squad.

The two sides met for the festive double header last season, too, with Chester winning both fixtures – the Blues picked up a 2-1 win at the New Bucks Head on Boxing Day before recording a comfortable 3-0 win in the return one week later. In fact, the Bucks’ record against the Blues makes for pretty gloomy reading; AFC Telford have won only one of 11 games against Chester, a 3-1 triumph at the New Bucks Head in August 2018.

New Bucks boss, Paul Carden, will be wanting to improve that record against a club he knows a lot about. Carden played over 200 games for Chester, captaining them to the Football Conference title in 2003-04. And with the Bucks bottom of the table, Carden will no doubt be eager to pick up three points on Boxing Day.
