AFC Telford
2 v 1
Bromsgrove Sporting
Match Review
Rhys Hilton’s glorious strike deep into stoppage time saw the Bucks beat Bromsgrove Sporting right at the death.
The Bucks dominated the early exchanges and could have taken the lead when a corner found its way to Jordan Piggott. But Piggott, on his first start since returning from injury, turned the ball wide from only a few yards out.
While Kevin Wilkin’s men were clearly the better side, the Bucks couldn’t find the incisiveness to really test the Sporting defence, and the Rouslers looked relatively untroubled from open play. And then, against the run of play, the visitors took the lead after a perfectly weighted through ball found Harry Crook who coolly slotted home on 27 minutes.
The goal rocked the Bucks, but Wilkin’s men regained their composure and found a leveller right on the stroke of half time. Ellis Myles attacked down the right, and his cross found Jimmy Armson, who swept home from close range. The sides headed into the interval at 1-1.
The second half was an even affair that ebbed back and forth. The Bucks perhaps had more control, but the Rouslers looked more dangerous and arguably looked the more likely side as the game wore on.
But with the clock reading 96 minutes, Rhys Hilton retrieved Ricardo Dinanga’s overhit cross, circled back and struck a wonderful shot that arrowed across Price and into the corner.
The Bucks’ 2-1 win means that Wilkin’s men have now won five league games in a row and sit level on points with Stamford at the top of the table.
