Biggleswade Town
Match Review
After a largely disappointing showing, the Bucks snatched a late leveller to pick up a point against bottom side Biggleswade Town.
Kevin Wilkin’s men didn’t turn at all in the first half, as the Waders ran the Bucks ragged. Biggleswade took the lead in the 17th minute, when Daniel Izekor outmuscled Brandon Hall to nod in Callum Wilson’s cross from the Bucks’ right. Sam Whittall hit the bar with a header in the 23rd minute, but the Waders were well worth their 1-0 lead at half time.
The Bucks were better after the break but failed to really test Jack Berman in the Biggleswade goal. Wilkin’s men huffed and puffed, but the Waders defended stoutly, managed the game well and looked dangerous going forward too.
But as the Bucks’ threat seemed to be fading away completely, they conjured a goal out of nothing to level things up in the 87th minute. And it was simple stuff: a long ball over the top found Matty Stenson in the clear, and the Bucks’ top scorer slotted home to make it 1-1.
It felt harsh on the Waders, who had put in an excellent showing, but the Bucks deserve some credit for digging out a result. Make no mistake, though, this was a hugely disappointing performance from Wilkin’s men. And yet, due to results elsewhere, the point sees the Bucks extend their lead at the top of the table.
