Match Preview
"Bucks looking to bounce back against league leaders "
Match Date : January 28th, 2025 7:45 pm
Competition : Southern League Premier Central
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 19:45
The Bucks take on table toppers Bedford Town on Tuesday night.
The two sides faced each other just two weeks ago, with the Bucks running out 3-2 winnings at the Eyrie. That result lifted the Bucks above the Eagles, but Bedford moved to the top of the table on Saturday thanks to a 2-2 draw against Banbury.
Managed by former Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead boss Lee Bircham, the Eagles finished 2nd in the Southern League Division One Central last season and have impressed so far on their return to Step 3. Despite defeat to the Bucks and a 5-1 drubbing against Spalding the week before, Bedford have picked up 22 points from their last 10 games.
Bedford have the division’s best attack and the fourth-best away record, while in 17-goal Leon Lobjoit they have one of the league’s top marksmen. Other players to look out for are captain Ryan Blake, who has 11 goals to his name, and versatile attacker Eddie Panter, who recently joined the Eagles having impressed at Biggleswade Town this season.
Since the two sides met earlier this month, the Eagles have announced that they are exploring a possible merger with neighbours Real Bedford, who currently sit top of the Southern League Division One Central.
Much like two weeks ago, the Bucks head into the game on the back of a disappointing away defeat. Wilkin’s men managed to bounce back to winning ways against Bedford last time, and another three points on Tuesday would see the Bucks leapfrog the Eagles in the table once again.
