Bucks face Lions in Tuesday night clash
AFC Telford United vs Guiseley
Vanarama National League North
Tuesday 12th February 2019, 7.45pm kick off
Guiseley will be in town this Tuesday evening, as the Bucks look for an instant response to Saturday’s defeat at Brackley.
After a three-year stay in non-league’s top tier, Guiseley finished rock bottom of the National League Premier last season and were no doubt looking to make a swift return. Management duo Marcus Bignot and Russ O'Neill were appointed last May and spent the summer revamping their squad.
Things haven’t gone to plan for the Lions so far though. The Yorkshire club currently sit just one place above the drop zone, although they are five points clear of 20th-place Ashton United.
But despite their somewhat lowly position, Guiseley are a tough nut to crack. The Lions have, in fact, lost only one more league game than the Bucks this season. It’s the Lions’ inability to turn draws into wins that has really cost them points. Guiseley are the division’s draw specialists with 13 stalemates to their name (including Saturday’s impressive 1-1 draw with Stockport), while they’ve picked up just six league wins.
Guiseley’s main source of goals is Rowan Liburd, who has bagged 12 so far this campaign. Generally speaking, however, the Lions have struggled for league goals this season, although they were the first side to score against the Bucks this season.
The sides played out a 1-1 draw back in April, but Gavin Cowan and the Bucks will be after all three points this time around.
