"I want to make the community proud"

New Bucks boss Gavin Cowan has urged supporters to back the club as he looks to build a team that makes “the community proud”

Cowan was appointed the Bucks new boss on Friday afternoon following the departure of Rob Edwards last week. Former Bucks hero Phil Trainer who famously scored the winning play off final goal seven years ago today in 2011 has been appointed assistant manager and Jake Roe will remain as the club’s physio.

"I want to bring big crowds, lots of buzz around the place. I want to see supporters in the bar afterwards mixing with the players.

"It is important that we link in with the community as the community is a huge part of the history of the football

"I really want to encourage people to come and watch their football club and be proud of what we are going to try and achieve.

"Win, lose or draw, they will see a team that will leave everything out on the pitch. And I think that's all supporters ask for.

"That is what me and the rest of the staff will be demandind.

The new Bucks boss has moved quickly to secure the signing of Shane Sutton & Ross White and remains in discussions with several of the current squad about remaining at the club for next year

"All the players we will be bringing in will be aware of what is expected of them and should feel honored to play for this club. Phil are I are very proud to take up this position and very honored to be the management team at AFC Telford United”

"For my first job as a manager, it is something that I am really looking forward to and I genuinely believe that I am the man to take it forward and I think in months to come the supporters will see that as well and will want to come back and support the club that they know and love."

Although the opposition club's can not be named, two high profile pre-season fixtures have been scheduled for Saturday 14th July 3pm KO & Wednesday 25th July 7.45pm at the New Bucks Head.

The club will also be running an open day from 10am till 2pm on Saturday 14th July prior to our first pre-season friendly.
