Preview – Stockport County (Away)
Telford travel to promotion-chasing County
Stockport County vs AFC Telford United
National League North
Saturday 14th April 2018, 3pm kick off
The games continue to come thick and fast for the Bucks, with Saturday’s trip to Stockport County next on the agenda.
After some occasionally patchy form this season, Jim Gannon’s side appear to have timed their playoff charge perfectly. Prior to their match at Kidderminster on Tuesday, County had won six straight league games. And despite defeat to Harriers, Stockport still sit 5th in the table – six points ahead of 8th-place Chorley.
The Hatters push for promotion is being fuelled by the goals of Jason Oswell and Matthew Warburton, who form one of the division’s most dangerous attacking partnerships. The pair have bagged 40 league goals between them, while their tally across all competitions stands at 50.
In addition to their strong showing in the league, County also had a good run in this year’s FA Trophy, reaching the quarter finals before being knocked out by eventual finalists Brackley Town.
The Hatters are particularly strong at home too, so the Bucks will need to be at their best to bag the points this Saturday. County have lost just four times all season at Edgeley Park, where they’ve collected 37 point from 19 league games.
The Bucks are unbeaten in four against Stockport though and won 3-2 when the sides met back in September. With the Bucks looking to pull further clear of danger, Rob Edwards will be want a repeat of that result this weekend.
