Bucks look to march on against the Saints
Brackley Town vs AFC Telford United
Vanarama National League North
Saturday 9th February 2019, 3pm kick off
After Tuesday night’s Trophy triumph, Gavin Cowan's men return to league action this Saturday with a visit to 6th placed Brackley Town.
Saints started the season slowly, losing three out of their first four games – including a 2-1 defeat at the New Bucks Head. Since then, however, Kevin Wilkin’s side have shown the kind of form that led them to a 3rd place finish last time around.
Just like the Bucks, Brackley lost three straight league games at the start of December but have been in fine form since. In their last eight games, the Saints have drawn twice and won six times – including victories in each of their last five fixtures.
Two of those triumphs came in the FA Trophy, with Brackley progressing to the quarter finals alongside the Bucks. Wilkin’s side are the current Trophy holders and will face Leyton Orient in the last eight of this year’s competition.
Up front, Lee Ndlovu has led to way for the Saints with 15 goals to his name, while James Armson has once again impressed, bagging 12 goals from midfield. What’s more, Wilkin has recently moved to strengthen his squad with the signing of the experienced Carl Baker from Nuneaton.
The sides played out a 1-1 draw at St James Park last season. But after beating the Saints in this season’s reverse fixture, Cowan and the Bucks will be hopeful of all three points this weekend.
