AFC Telford Community Coaching in partnership with The Football Conference Trust.
AFC Telford United Community Coaching programme is supported by The Football Conference Trust. Our projects ranges from Football to Multi Sports to Dance and Hockey. The funding received encourages volunteers and coaches to work with young people to engage them in sport and wellbeing. The project also encourages both boys and girls of all ages to participate and be engaged with their local football club in the community
Here are some of the products we offer:
Planning, Preparation & Assessment (PPA)
Our FA qualified coaches offer teachers the unique opportunity to manage their PPA time whilst providing children with engaging, beneficial session that will enhance the school’s curriculum.
The community programme offers full days or half day of support that will fulfil units of PE national curriculum.
Alternatively we can tailor our support to suit the school’s needs.
In addition to football our staff are qualified to deliver the following sports
Sponsored Fundraising Days
We have three football themed inflatables;
1. Speed Shot - which measures how fast you can kick the ball?
2. Inflatable football pitch - small sided games with a maximum of 12 children.
3. Two inflatable goals which can be used to for a number of difference games
All money raised will be shared equally between the school and the community programme or can be kept by the school and used to support our provision within the school.
The children are encouraged to persuade family and friends to sponsor the inflatable themed day.
In return for collecting sponsors the children will receive a family ticket to an AFC Telford United home league game and can win a range of prizes including autographed ball, mugs, hats & accessories.
Schools are welcomed to book trips to New Bucks Head, which we can tailor to their specific interests.
All visits include a stadium tour of our grounds, including pitch side and the changing rooms.
Visits can also include practical football sessions in our Goalzone 5 a side pitches.
Stadium visits are Free for those schools we work with otherwise charged at £2.50 per child.
After School Programme
The after school programme sees community coaches deliver a high quality of sessions usually over a 6 week period. Sessions are designed to give baseline knowledge or various sports, with a strong emphasis on children enjoying themselves.
All coaches are fully CRB and qualified to provide a high standard of coaching regardless of age and ability.
All children taking part in our soccer school and holidays clubs will not only benefit from learning new and developing new skills they will also gain appreciation for the benefits of working individually and as a team as well as having lots of fun.
Throughout the soccer schools, all the children involved will be faced with skill sessions, Penalty shoots out and small sided games. They all receive a free family ticket to an AFC Telford United home league game, a medal of achievement and certificate of participation as well as the chance to win performance awards such as coaches’ award and player of the week.
Furthermore those players that Impress may be referred to the clubs youth development set up and girl’s development centres.
Girls Development Centres
Our Girls Development sessions run every Monday evening at St Georges from 6pm-7pm. At £2.00 per session we deliver a high quality of football coaching in helping girls develop their current skills by gaining confidence at learning new qualities at the same time. We also offer links with local grass roots club to provide them with valuable game time.
Friday Night Football
Every Friday night we give younger people the opportunity to play football in a fun, safe environment with a qualified football coaches. The session at Bucks GoalZone is 6pm-7pm every Friday evening and provides young people from 16-21 the chance to play 5 a side at the small cost of £1
No need to book in advance; just turns up with drink appropriate clothing.
Hockey Zone is part of Telford & Wrekin Alternative provision team which links in with AFC Telford United. Our Hockey team use a interactive ice hockey zone to take sport to the school playground. The Hockey programme provides basic ice hockey skills to local schools over a 7 week period, 5 sessions in school teaching skills and 2 skating sessions at Telford Ice Rink on the ice.

AFC Telford United has recently created a link with a local performing Arts Academy in Wellington to provide further opportunities for children across the borough during school curriculum. The company is owned by Sarah Harris who has been in the industry for 25 years and specialises in drama. Jitterbugz provide dance, cheerleading, ballet, street dance, musical theatre, beat box and drama.
