Telford looking to take down high-flying Magpies
AFC l vs Chorley
Vanarama National League North
Saturday 13th October 2018, 3pm kick off
It's Non-League Day 2018 this Saturday, and the Bucks have a mouth-watering clash against table-toppers Chorley.
The Bucks are looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats, but will have to pull out all the stops to overcome a Chorley team who have been in imperious form so far this term.
After Matt Jansen's resignation at the end of last season, there were doubts in some quarters as to whether Chorley would continue to challenge at the top end of the table. But if there were lingering questions, they've now been emphatically answered.
Under the guidance of former Buck turned Chorley stalwart Jamie Vermiglio, the Magpies have made a flying start to the season. The Lancashire side have won 11 of their 13 games across all competitions this campaign, keeping ten clean sheets in the process.
And not only are the Magpies undefeated against all comers so far this season, but they also haven't lost to the Bucks in the last five meetings between the sides. In fact, Telford have taken just a single point from the Magpies during that run.
Chorley won 2-1 when the sides met at the New Bucks Head in April, with twin brothers Elliott and Alex Newby both getting on the scoresheet but for their respective sides. Elliott has since joined his twin brother at Victory Park, while two more former Bucks, Josh Wilson and Matt Urwin, are also regular starters for the Magpies. Meanwhile, Chorley's dangerman this season is Adam Blakeman. The left-sided player currently has nine goals to his name.
But Gavin Cowan's men have been impressive at home and are yet to lose at the New Bucks Head this season - in fact, only this weekend's visitors Chorley have a better points per game record at home.
The stage is set, then, for what should be a great game of football this weekend.
