Ladies Match Report 06/08/2017
Lucky number 7 for the ladies as they make it 2 wins out of 2.

Lucky number 7 for the ladies as they make it 2 wins out of 2.

AFC Telford ladies were back in action last Sunday as they travelled to face Ellesmere Rangers at Beech Grove looking to make it two wins out of two in pre season.

After a quiet opening 5 minutes it was Telford that forced the first chance with Fran Scott rattling the crossbar from 10 yards out after a great turn in the box. It wasn't long until the opening goal of the game came courtesy of Jem Smith. Following good work from Scott forcing the keeper off her line, Smith seized the opportunity lobbing her from the edge of the box.

The ever present Fran Scott was denied on several occasions by some quality keeping but finally opened her Telford ladies account following a great run down the line, before cutting inside and beating the keeper at the near post. It was one way traffic for the ladies and they made it 3 right on the stroke of half time. More great work from Scott forced the keeper into a mistake before Chantelle Teare pounced on the rebound.

Half time: Ellesmere Rangers 0 AFC Telford 3

With the second half, in true pre season fashion brought a number of changes, but that didn't change the flow of the game. Introduced at the break, Caitlyn Smith got on the scoresheet in the 58th minute with a great free kick from the edge of the box after Teare was chopped down. It was Teare in the 70th minute who got her second goal of the game once again slotting home after Scott was foiled by the Ellesmere keeper.  In the thick of the action once again Chantelle won Telford a penalty 5 minutes later which was confidently converted by Caitlyn to take her personal tally to 5 goals in just 2 games.

The final goal of the game came with virtually the last kick of the game as Ash Kilgour unleashed an unstoppable strike from the edge of the box into the side of the net.

Had it not been for some resolute keeping Telford could have quite easily registered double figures on the day.  They will look to carry on their 100% record as they face Hereford United Ladies on Sunday.
