The Bucks are after Moor success this weekend
AFC Telford United vs Spennymoor Town
Vanarama National League North
Saturday 5th January 2019, 3pm kick off
Spennymoor Town are the first visitors to the New Bucks Head in 2019 in what should be a captivating game this weekend.
Town made a slow start to the current campaign and didn't win in their
first five fixtures. But following the Bucks' 3-2 win at The Brewery
Field in August, the Moors have flown up the table and now sit 5th two
points and one place behind the Bucks - although Town do have two games
And it should be no surprise that Spennymoor are flying high. The Moors
have the division's 4th-best defence and 2nd-best attack, and in Glenn
Taylor, they boast the league's top scorer.
Jason Ainsley's men have been here before though. Last season Spennymoor
seemed odds on for a playoff place, only to ultimately miss out on goal
difference after a disastrous end to the campaign. A rash of
postponements, in addition to their run to the FA Trophy quarter finals,
meant the Moors had a mountainous fixture backlog that put paid to
their hopes of promotion.
Telford picked up a full nine points from the three festive fixtures and
have won three games in a row against Spennymoor, including a 3-2 at
the New Bucks Head last season. Cowan and the Bucks faithful will be in
eager for all three points again this time around.
