Youth Round Up
Saturday 6th April
It was a reduced fixture list for our Youth sides last weekend with just 6 sides in action. We start our round up with the Under 18 Boys who knew just a point would be enough to win the league outright and secure back to back titles. Out to stop them was Rushall Olympic, sitting 3rd in the league and the Bucks opponents in the League Cup final. However, the Telford boys were in emphatic form and blew away their hosts in the first half leading 5-1. A much tighter second half where the Bucks took their feet off the gas saw the final score end 7-3. Goals came from, Nicholson (2), Pratt, Taylor, Jones, Hughes and Bolderston.
The Under 11 Boys picked up three points in their MJPL Trophy game at home to Racing Club Warwick whilst the Under 16 Boys ended their season with defeat at home to Coventry Sphinx. A resurgent second half performance gave the Under 12 Girls a 5-0 victory over Albrighton with goals coming from Grace Rankin, Amelia Smith, Eden Wallace, Darcy Miller and Lacey Skitt-Jones. Meanwhile a Kaitlyn Richards goal wasn’t enough for the Under 16 Girls as they exited the Open Cup at the semi final stage at the hands of league champions Derby County.
We end our round up with the Under 10 Boys who faced a play off game against Studley Juniors in the MJPL Trophy. Similar to the last few encounters between the two sides it was a close fought contest. With neither side able to break the deadlock the game was decided by penalties. It was the young Bucks who edged the contest to progress to the semi finals as group leaders where they face Evesham United Robins.
