England Men’s U20s return to
action this month – hosting the Netherlands U20s in Telford.
The friendly at AFC Telford United’s New Bucks Head Stadium takes place on
Thursday 31 August (7pm kick-off).
Fresh from his Euro success with the U19s, Keith Downing will lead much of the
same group in their season opener before travelling to face Switzerland U20s in
Winterthur on Monday 4 September (7pm kick-off UK time).
It will also be the U20s age group’s first fixture since the
famous World Cup victory over Venezuela in South Korea in June.
A popular venue for
development team fixtures, the Shropshire stadium hosted an U19 friendly
against the same opponents last September.
Everton midfielder Tom Davies gave England the lead
shortly before half-time, only for Holland's Justin Hoogma to equalise six
minutes from the end. The two nations staged a penalty shoot-out following the
tie, with Aston Villa defender Easah Suliman eventually settling it after 17
kicks had been scored.
AFC Telford chairman Andy Pryce said: “It’s great that The
Football Association have chosen the New Bucks Head as the venue for this U20s
“We will no doubt put on a great showcase event and look forward to continuing
our excellent working relationship with those at The FA.”
Tickets will be available from the New Bucks Head reception between 9am to 5pm
Monday to Friday, by calling 01952 640064 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/afctelfordutd
