Telford take on Harriers in Boxing Day bout

AFC Telford United vs Kidderminster Harriers

Vanarama National League North

Tuesday 26th December 2017, 3pm kick off

Telford are in action at the New Bucks Head this Boxing Day when Rob Edwards’ men will take on Kidderminster Harriers in the first of a festive double header against the Worcestershire club.

Harriers
finished second last season before being beaten by Chorley in the playoff semi finals. And after a patchy start to the season in which Harriers lost four of their seven league games, Kiddie are once more flexing their promotion credentials. In fact, John Eustace’s men have not lost in the league since September 12th and are now firmly a part of the playoff picture.

But Kiddie have fared much better on their own patch this term than they have done away from home. Four of Harriers five league defeats have come on the road, and they’ve won just four of 11 games on their travels in the division.

The two sides met three times last season. While Harriers hammered the Bucks 4-0 in the FA Trophy, the league encounters were much closer – both teams each edging their respective home games 1-0.

Both squads have undergone significant revamps since the last time the sides met. Joe Ironside is Kiddie’s new dangerman and has bagged 15 goals this season, while former Telford stalwart Lee Vaughan returned for a second spell at Aggborough in the summer. And Tuesday could see Vaughan make his comeback from a leg break sustained last season.

The Bucks will be making a return to action of sorts too. Tuesday’s game will in fact be the first time in over a month that Rob Edwards’ men have turned out at the New Bucks Head. But the Bucks have won the last two in front of the Telford faithful, and only league leaders Salford City have prevented Edwards’ men from scoring at home.

Telford produced a strong, organised performance to earn a good point at Brackley on Saturday. A similarly determined display against Kiddie should send Bucks fans home happy this Boxing Day.
